After stepping off a 10 hour flight from Finland to Chicago, the first thing that was on my mind was how long until I get home and can jump in bed. The last thing I wanted to think about was going through border customs and finding my luggage. After standing in line for two hours I was exhausted. Come to find, I couldn’t find my luggage when I finally made it to the luggage carousels.
That’s when a bright smile interrupted my stress and Shahn asked, “Can I help you ma’am?” Shahn then went out of his way to search all the other carousels, finally going back to luggage storage and finding my bag. He apologized for it getting confused with another flight, and I couldn’t do anything but thank him enough. I asked if I could interview him quickly because he had such a positive impact on my day. Shahn said he has been recognized for good customer service and that “it feels good.” He went on to say, “I just treat all people how I would want to be treated. It’s a motto I live by.” Kind words for a man who goes out of his way to help anybody in need. I followed up asking what makes him happy in life and he explained, “Seeing the people I love happy makes me happy. There’s nothing greater than that.” Kind words from a kind man. Thank you Shahn for sharing your story.
